Short Haul Operations Manager ( Central )

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operational Excellence:
  • Oversee the day-to-day execution of all short-haul transportation activities, ensuring timely pickups, deliveries, and adherence to safety regulations.
  • Optimize routes and schedules to maximize efficiency and minimize costs.
  • Monitor and manage driver performance, including training, feedback, and performance evaluations.
  • Address and resolve operational issues promptly to ensure smooth operations and customer satisfaction.
  • Business Development:
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities within the short-haul market, including lead generation, proposal development, and contract negotiation.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with potential and existing clients, understanding their needs and offering tailored solutions.
  • Collaborate with the marketing team to develop effective sales and marketing strategies to promote short-haul services.
  • Client Relationship Management:
  • Act as the primary point of contact for short-haul clients, proactively addressing their concerns and ensuring their satisfaction.
  • Regularly communicate with clients to provide updates on shipments, resolve issues, and gather feedback.
  • Develop and maintain long-term relationships with key clients to foster repeat business and loyalty.
  • Data Management and Reporting:
  • Ensure accurate and timely recording of all short-haul data, including shipment details, costs, revenues, and performance metrics.
  • Generate regular reports on short-haul operations for management review, highlighting key trends, challenges, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Utilize data analytics to identify areas for optimization and cost reduction within the short-haul operations.
Entry Requirements

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Experience: Proven experience (3+ years) in managing short-haul transportation operations, preferably in a similar industry.
  • Skills: Strong leadership, communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills. Proficient in data analysis and reporting. Knowledge of transportation regulations and best practices.
  • Technical Skills: Experience with transportation management systems (TMS) and other relevant software.
